EMA’s Work
On the Friday afternoon before Memorial Day, when they thought no one would notice, EMA brought a lawsuit against the California Air Resources Board to delay California’s life-saving Heavy-duty Omnibus rule. That’s not good for Californians, especially communities along freight corridors that are disproportionately low-income and communities of color that breathe in toxic diesel pollution everyday.
EMA has a long history of fighting clean air regulations:
2004: EMA and WSPA sue South Coast Air Quality Management District over clean fleet requirements.
May 2007: EMA opposes new fuel-economy standards.
November 2014: EMA brings a lawsuit against CARB challenging emission standards regulation.
2019: EMA opposes ACT in California.
August 2020: EMA fights timely adoption of ACT and HDO in California.
August 2020: EMA fights adoption of Low NOx Omnibus rule in New Jersey.
September 2020: EMA opposes the adoption of the ACT in New Jersey.
August 2021: EMA opposes the adoption of the Clean Trucks rule in Oregon.
May 2022: EMA brings lawsuit against CARB attacking timely adoption of heavy-duty regulation.
August 2022: EMA drops lawsuit
